For Parents
Parents or guardians of young people struggling with depression can also get in touch to find out more about TIDE. If you think your child might be depressed and are concerned their well-being, consider reading our About page or reaching out to us if you have any general questions.
If you think that TIDE might be a good fit for your child, we encourage you to speak to your child about the project first to see if it is something they would be interested in before reaching out to begin the eligibility process. Potentially eligible young people can reach out directly, or with the support of a parent, guardian or trusted adult.
Ultimately, the decision to participate in TIDE is up to the young person seeking treatment. It is important that participants of all ages understand what would be involved and what they are consenting to.
"The TIDE Project has been an invaluable resource to us in our time of need. As a parent, it was terrifying to watch my daughter struggle with her mental health and not know where to turn for help. Their response was lightning fast and comprehensive. She was empowered with the tools required to bring herself back to her real self again. This early intervention will prove useful to her repeatedly over the course of her life."

For Youth-Facing Providers
We are always looking to expand our connections with youth-facing providers across Nova Scotia, including counselors, general practitioners, social workers, community organizers and others to spread the word about TIDE.
If you work in a setting where you think your clients, students or patients would benefit from knowing about TIDE, please get in touch and we would be happy to connect and provide posters, referral forms or any other useful materials. All interested individuals seeking information about TIDE without looking to participate themselves can contact the study team or email the project coordinator directly at nicole.stinson@nshealth.ca.
Adults Seeking Treatment for Depression, but Likely not Eligible for TIDE
If you are an adult over age 25 seeking treatment for depression, or you are over the age 18 and have already tried treatment for depression, there are other studies at the Depression Clinical Research Program (DCRP) that you could be eligible for. Please visit the main DCRP website at www.treatdepressionNS.ca for more information about other ongoing projects.
